Biotin |

Biotin is a B vitamin, and is often mentioned in connection with blood sugar control. It supports healthy metabolism, and helps your body to properly use carbohydrates. I ran across some other interesting facts in regards to Biotin in my research also, which had particular application given my personal history.
One of the sources I found stated that a maternal deficiency in biotin could cause genetic mutations in fetuses. This had particular significance to me, since my last child had been diagnosed at 20 weeks with a genetic abnormality, which was the result of a dominant genetic mutation - in other words, something occurred to damage the dna either prior to conception, or shortly after, causing a genetic condition that was not in either of the parents. We know that her condition was the result of a dominant mutation, because she had black hair. Neither myself nor my husband is capable of producing a child with black hair, so even without the genetic analysis, we knew it was a dominant mutation. So that connection gave me reason to feel that Biotin might be a reasonable supplement for me to use prior to having another baby.
I have also discovered that biotin deficiency can cause nerve and muscle problems, skin problems, and several other issues which are also relevant to my situation. Many have improved since beginning to use it, but I cannot say for certain that the biotin is responsible for the improvement, because I have also been taking Aloe along side it. UPDATE: I ran out of biotin, and after about three weeks, noticed that my muscles were more fatigued again. After resuming its use, it improved. It has not solved my muscle problems completely, but there is a noticeable difference. CLA and L-Carnatine also help with this problem. I have not been able to observe differences in blood sugar control wtih biotin. Written by Laura Wheeler, Owner of Firelight Business Enterprises, Inc.

We've been using Acidophilous for several things - Vitamin K absorption at first, and then because we heard good things about it for Crohn's Disease. |

I use this, and so far I have not seen any real effect on my blood sugar that I can pin to this supplement specifically. I have not felt any adverse effects either. And I suppose the reason I keep taking it has less to do with blood sugar control, and more to do with the other little thing I discovered.
